Long bio

Miranda’s story

Miranda Makary, BS, RN, has built her career around a simple conviction: when people understand what’s happening in their bodies and brains, their lives change. A registered nurse with a diverse healthcare background, she completed nursing school and went on to graduate summa cum laude in Health Systems Management.

Early in her career, Miranda cared for neonatal and pediatric patients in Baltimore and helped manage free pediatric dental screenings with Colgate across the United States. She mentored and taught nursing students, and after volunteering at a medical clinic in West Africa, she came to value healthcare education even more deeply — seeing firsthand how knowledge empowers people to advocate for themselves and their families.

Miranda trained under Helen Irlen to provide Irlen diagnosis and lenses, and she finds deep meaning in helping people explore whether visual processing stress may be affecting their reading, comfort, and focus. Today, affiliated with Amen Clinics, she combines her clinical foundation with a passion for brain health education — sharing practical, evidence-aware guidance with patients and a nationwide audience online.

Her style is warm, clear, and honest. She focuses on diagnosis, education, and realistic next steps, and she’s careful never to overpromise. Whether she’s working one-on-one or speaking to a room, Miranda’s goal is the same: to help people feel seen, informed, and hopeful.
